A Secret Ingredient To Success Is ‘Taking Action’
The path to success is to take massive, determined actions. — Tony Robbins
Be focused and take necessary action and move forward. At some point, you might feel uneasy and nervous to start something new because maybe you’re not as good as someone else already doing it, but how can you win the game if you don’t ever start it.
Recently I had an opportunity to write my first ever article, which I must say was the most exciting and valuable experience I’ve ever had to date. Allow me to be upfront that I’m not at all a writer, and I never imagined myself being a writer, instead, I’m a passionate design professional.
It all began a few days ago when I came across “What do I see when I look at Pakistan”, an article written by Randall Agee. It was indeed an impressive piece of writing. What captured my attention was that the author of the article was an American who has directly represented Pakistanis to Americans for over ten years. His belief and confidence in Pakistan was something very uncommon to me. Without giving a second thought, I decided to shoot him an appreciation message. I honestly felt that he’s doing something that every Pakistani should do.
Out of the blue, Randall invited to share my thoughts through a write-up, that he would publish on his website. It was an exciting offer, but deep inside I was a bit nervous and afraid of rejection. However, I had to take the first step towards facing my fears, and I decided to take Randall’s challenge.
We have all had our “first” of many things, and that changed us from what we were to what we have become. It took me a little time to prepare myself to achieve this task before I started the challenge.
To me, the blank paper was like a canvas that I had to adorn with my writing skills. I started mapping out the general ideas and outlines for the topic and headlines. I knew that action inevitably gets things done, but there’s a kernel of inspiration at the root of every objective that fuels it.
My kernel of inspiration was the Youth of Pakistan, which has vast potential and has earned many reputations. I firmly believe that this generation of young people can overcome some of the most significant global challenges that Pakistan faces today. All we need to do is find ways to harness the drive and commitment of Pakistan’s youth and leverage their unique skills. It’s essential to engage and inspire the young generations for everyone’s benefit. If and when you can do this, then why not contribute to it.
During the process, I realised that some things regarding writing are hard. However, if you start and take action you get to change “hard” into “fun and challenging.” Once you get this secret, there are all kinds of amazing things that can happen.
You will learn more by doing something, than by not doing anything. Taking action builds confidence when you put yourself out there and try those things that intimidate you.
I accepted the writing challenge; all the credit goes to Randall Agee who encouraged me throughout the process. It was an honour to be the first guest writer for his excellent initiative GoPakistan. Randall published my article, and it was a success. I received an overwhelming response, and the best part was that my article reached my target audience who appreciated it the most.
To be honest, I was not confident enough about my writing skills before starting the challenge. Moreover, I was not comfortable with sharing what I wrote because I never wrote an article before. But the most important thing I learned was that ‘I Can do it!’
You always have a choice; 1. Stay precisely where you are feeling safe and secure by never trying anything new. Or, 2. challenge yourself, come out of your comfort zone and grow beyond your wildest dreams.
The reason behind sharing my story is to deliver a message of motivation and inspiration, and of course, express my vision of how taking the first step towards something unlocks the whole staircase in front of you.
Concluding this, I would like to challenge all the talented Pakistanis to challenge yourselves and see how we can contribute towards a better Pakistan.
